Scotland

Do you want to be amazed by the mighty nature and enjoy the extreme scenery while, in the evening, you can enjoy pints and a whisky in a great pub? Scotland is the answer! With its fantastic mountains, lovely coasts, thriving cities, and sociable people, this is the perfect getaway in Europe. Travelling by car is the perfect way to discover this incredible country.

We were travelling here for three weeks in a minivan with a bed in it in August. We travelled most of the country and enjoyed every single moment of it. The weather in August was good and perfect for travel. The downside of August is that it is more crowded than normal and there are midges (small mosquitoes), although we did not bother too much about both slightly negative points.

Scotland turned out to be my favorite country on the continent of Europe. It touched me by being so hospitable and raw at the same time. I would recommend everyone visit this beautiful country.

As part of the United Kingdom, it is always connected to England (the only country bordering Scotland), Wales, and Northern Ireland. There are 5.3 million inhabitants, of whom around 30% are born in the two biggest cities of the country: Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Things to do in Scotland

The perfect day for me in Scotland is hiking in nature  and then arriving in a pub. The cities are great as well.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh feels like arriving in the Middle Ages. The Royal Mile has the most sights on it under which the castle.

Glasgow

Glasgow is underrated, but I really loved it. The city feels authentic and has a lot of fun regions and museums.
